Photo Finish for June 8, 2012: You Can’t Judge a Creek by Its Name
by Pat McKay

Contributing Photographer Pat McKay enjoys the distinction of being the first Turtle Taxi to pick up a fare this year. At least he’s the first that we know of. But he doesn’t spend all his time on the road. On some days he plies a paddle, instead:

I saw quite a few turtles as I paddled Barren Creek, but none of them appeared to need (or want) my help!

Not for the first time, the name of a place proves completely misleading. This creek sure doesn’t look barren to me! And I’m sure the turtles that Pat encountered would agree.

Thanks for opening a window on your home waters, Pat!
