Bike Sunday for January 17, 2010
Winter Snow & Night Light
If you’ve been listening to the news at all in the last few weeks, you may have heard that the United Kingdom’s winter has been harsher than normal. Snow, ice and freezing temperatures are causing delays in food delivery to grocery stores, road accidents, havoc at airports, and school closures. But is this bad weather stopping hardy bicyclists? Not at all! Placid Casual, for one, has been out on his bike, and at night, too. He’s an avid and accomplished photographer, as well, and here’s a striking shot from his nighttime commute:

See an enlargement of this and more of Placid Casual’s excellent photos at his Flickr photostream. And if you’d like to do a bit of vicarious cycling and paddling in the UK, you’ll enjoy his blog, yeahyeahyeahyeah….
We love our bikes and everything that goes with them, right? And we never tire of looking at them. At least I don’t, and if I’m to judge from what others tell me, I’m not alone. So each Sunday I’ll publish a bike related picture. Most of the time the picture will be a photo, but I’ll also include drawings, paintings, sculptures, and any other representation of a bike or bike stuff. If you have a picture or two you’d like to contribute to the gallery, just email your picture(s) to me.
