Bike Sunday for December 20, 2009
Celebrating the Sun
With the Winter Solstice over the horizon, it’s a good time to celebrate the imminent turning point that will bring the sun back to the northern hemisphere. Here the sunlight casts a warm glow over my LHT at a favorite rest stop, where honey bees busily collected nectar and butterflies flitted among the wildflowers. Today that spot is deep in snow, the dried stalks of those roadside flowers carry a burden of snow and ice, but the sun will return, and with it will bring spring and regrowth. Now, that’s a warm thought.

We love our bikes and everything that goes with them, right? And we never tire of looking at them. At least I don’t, and if I’m to judge from what others tell me, I’m not alone. So each Sunday I’ll publish a bike related picture. Most of the time the picture will be a photo, but I’ll also include drawings, paintings, sculptures, and any other representation of a bike or bike stuff. If you have one you’d like to contribute to the gallery, just email your picture(s) to me.
