Tobie DePauw’s Routing of Paul Thumbie Cables
If you’ve got bar-end shifters and can’t quite get to grips with them because of their location in the drops, one alternative is to use Paul Thumbies. I’ve never used them, but plenty of cyclists swear by (rather than at) them, though routing the shifter cables can be a challenge if you carry a bar bag or use interrupter brake levers. Tobie DePauw and his colleagues at North Central Cyclery like Thumbies quite a lot, and Tobie has found ways around the problem of using them along with a bar bag or “cross levers.” Just check out his post at the NCC blog, where he’s posted a few great photos.
