A September kayaking trip to Aziscohos Lake in Maine rewarded Margaret with a moose sighting that would thrill any paddler. For 15 minutes Margaret watched this trio of moose—a bull, a cow, and a calf—browsing together companionably along the lake shore. Were they family? Probably not, but who knows. The fact remains that the moose were happy to share a lonely stretch of beach, and Margaret was delighted to capture them on film. Here’s an inset of the trio for a closer view:
